Summary of the Strike-Everything Amendment to SB 1634
Overview
Requires the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) to provide the Secretary of State (SOS) with completed voter registrations. Directs the SOS to forward completed voter registrations and copies of applicants' signatures that were written by hand on a document during driver license voter registration to the applicable county recorder.
History
Currently, every person who is applying for a driver license or renewal and is qualified to register to vote, at the same time and place, must be allowed to register to vote by providing required information. The method used to register voters must require only the minimum information necessary to: 1) prevent duplicate registrations; 2) enable elections officials to determine voter eligibility; and 3) administer voter registration and election laws. A registration form must be included for a person who is applying for a driver license renewal by mail.
During the registration process, ADOT must provide applicants with a statement that provides: 1) each eligibility requirement for voting, including citizenship; 2) an attestation that the applicant meets each requirement; and 3) for the applicant's signature, under penalty of perjury (A.R.S. § 16-112).
Provisions

2. Requires the SOS to forward completed voter registrations and copies of applicants' signatures that were written by hand on a document to the applicable county recorder within five days after receipt of a completed registration. (Sec. 1)
